Transition Planning for Student Assignment Plan
This is a thread to have the conversation around the district transition planning work. Some of the high priority issues are grandfathering of siblings and transportation.

New Boundaries to Support the Student Assignment Plan
On Tuesday Oct 6, 2009 the district will release the new attendence boundaries. A video of the board work session presentation will be available on the district website. The proposed attendance area boundary maps will be presented at the board work session and made available Tuesday evening on the district website.
A helpful and new tool for families is a Web-based program that displays initial attendance area school assignments based on an address. The tool will be available beginning the morning of Wednesday, October 7 on the district Web site
Each school will also have a computer available to families to enable them to look up information on boundaries and assignments.

New Student Assignment Plan
The district is in the process of creating a new student assignment plan. On Wed March 25 at a work session the board instructed the staff to begin work on the the business rules before working on the geographical lines that will make up the attendance areas. Once the rule are designed they we will start talking about the lines. which will happen in the fall.
High School Math Adoption Text
I did have a thread on this topic that was started a while a ago. But As we get near the vote I am happy to bring it to the top again. For those that are not aware, the board will be voting on a recommendation for the adoption of math text to be used be all high school math courses. The rule for how this adoption to to occur is prescribed by state law. There is a slection committee established, they make a recommendation to the board and the board can either accept or reject the recommendation. We can not by law change the recommendation. Uniforms In Schools
Someone has suggested that a thread be started on uniforms in schools. As you know, currently the students at Thurgood Marshall do have school uniforms. With the addition of the students from APP at Lowell arriving in the fall it is unclear how this will play out.
